Vogue Fashion Night Out

Thursday saw the third annual Vogue Fashion Night Out held in Fashion Capitals across the globe. My highlights of the night in London were to be found mainly on Bruton Street. Matthew Williamson was a joy as ever and my favourite by far, with a great house DJ, surrounded by the most fabulous bedazzled dresses and in the company of Matthew himself. The Stella Mc Cartney store which never fails impress on VFNO hosted a branded popcorn stand, Vogue badges, dancers and ad campaign cut out. Another huge hit for the night was Harvey Nichols which was alive with an old skool carnival theme. We stocked up on coconut cocktails in recycled Cadburies milk bottles, filled up on Mr Wippy 99's served by a man sporting an in character oversized moustache all topped off with games such as pin the pony on Karl. Classic fashion fun.
However this year Vogue Fashion Night Out wasn't all fun and games, many of the stores had rediculously long cues to even get past the door leaving many a fashionista standing on the doorsteps like lemons. My friends and I refused to cue for anywhere as this is not what the experience is about but it did mean I missed a rather special visit to Mulberry.Vogues Fashion Night Out 2011 was oversaturated and was far too commercial. The event this year lacked the luster which had made the event known amongst my friend and I as Fashion Christmas.
I do plan on attending the event next September and hope that the event goes back to its usual Vogue standard. Despite my critical opinion of the event I should note that my friends and I all enjoyed the night full of fashion, fun and fabulousness.
