Money Can Buy You Style

This week I have drawn inspiration from my Oxford Street shopping session on Friday, see earlier blog post. I have created this look of denim and fringing on a far higher budget and I am loving the results. I need this outfit in my life light wash denim, dreamy Matthew Williamson skirt, Easter wardrobe heaven.
Now to stop dreaming and start saving...

21st Century Dior

It is amazing when a great new fashion/beauty advert comes into town. Many of the big fashion players fail when it comes to television adverts coming across as too avent garde for mainstream audiences or too minimal/too extravegant depending on the brand. Thats why I am so happy to see the new Dior advert which stars power model Kate Moss preping for a papparazzi fuelled journey in Paris in all her black fur glory and killer heels. The advert is fast paced with a gentle music slowing it down. The advert is so beautifully shot with an enchanting scene starring Miss Moss in a grande boudoir engrossed in lavish Dior dresses, shoes, furs, runway invitations, boxes and bags, very idealistic. This scene is quite reminicent of Lily Allen's The Fear video with its concept of vanity and commercialism. While Allen's video may have been a tongue in cheek poke to being object obsessed, the Dior advert embraces it as a luxurious lifestyle choice. The video mergers a combination of filming styles; old school Hollywood paparazzi scenes shot in black and white along with the fast placed colour wurlwind of the current media.

I think the advert epitomises the younger identity of the Dior brand and easily creates the visions I associate with 21st Century Dior. Though I may not be buying into the said Lipgloss in question, I definatly found this advert enjoyable and more of a mini fashion film than a hard sell pitch.

Silver Fox Spy

This is always the toughest time of year for dedicated followers of fashion, the transitional stage of between seasons. My weekend trip to Oxford Street only cemented this belief further. Not only are the shops still bloated with thick chunky knit jumpers and winter boots but the only Spring/Summer items in the shop at present are beach cover ups and flip flops, not exactly inspiring. My memory recalls days gone by when the shops filtered in their summer collections in the middle of rainy March, yet here we are nearing the end of April with next to nothing decent in the shops. How is a girl meant to start putting together her summer wardobe?

Despite the disapointment of the Oxford Street stock I did manage to find a few little pieces which caught my eye including these amazing distressed denims and silver fringed shorts, oh la la. I guess that means another shoppping trip to London will be on the cards in the coming weeks....

Mulberry Dream

It is fair to say that I love Mulberry without a shadow of a doubt. I love the brand, the products, the heritage, everything about the brand is beautiful. Looking back to last season (contoversial in the fashion world I know) I am still in awe of this dress. Photographs, be that the professional or taken on my shoddy iphone camera do not show off the dress to its real life aesthetic. I cannot describe the beauty of this dress up close. The faux flowers made of chiffon, silk, suede deserve a place in Kew Gardens. And how perfectly does it go with the jacket and sandals combo.

Swim Sensation

The enticing sunshine this week has lead me to thoughts of traveling and summer holidays. In particular I have been dreaming about swimwear as I am vast becoming abit of a swimwear hoarder. My holiday to Greece last summer saw me wear an impressive eight bikini in seven days, exessive I know but holidays are all about indulgence plus looking and feeling good. Today I made a great discovery, Mara Hoffman swimwear collection. Oh my, what have I started? I can tell I am going to become obsessed with these poolside delights. I am particularly loving these two bikini's with inspiring/modern aztec prints in flattering shapes.

And so my hunt for this summer holidays swimwear collection begins, though I am yet to actually book the holiday in question. These little beauts are definatly on my list...

Clutch the Sunshine

To celebrate the beautiful sunshine that is streaming into the office I thought I would share a picture of two zesty clutches I spotted on my shopping trip at the weekend. I really love the energy of the bright hues with the gold structure skeletal casing. The bags have a certain DVF element about them don't you think? I was very close to purchasing the lime clutch bag but I could not think of what I would wear it with.

Money Can Buy Style

Its official, I am having one of those weeks where life gets in the way of fashion. With a launch at work this week and the awful English weather my usual fashion style has had to be compromised. This week I have been wearing ballet flats, minimal jewellery and even leggings because of these demands, not ideal. I feel so bare without my always present heels and statement pieces. As a result of which I have based my Money Can Buy Style look on what I have been wearing this week so far.

Tickle Me Pinko

How much shoe envy do I have for these Pinko boots? Far too much! These Pinko dream shoes add a bit of tough rock drama to any outfit. These open toed wonders gave my friend the opportunity to show of her rather delicious pedicure also which is definatly a bonus. If only my feet weren't so petite so that I could borrow these beauts.
