Last Day of Mc Queen

Today is your last opportunity to catch a look at the incredible Alexander Mc Queen window displays at Harvey Nichols. The windows have been in conjunction with the New York Met exhibition Alexander Mc Queen Savage Beauty. Some pieces selected for the exhibition were too delicate to travel or did not adhear to American customs regulations so they could not go into the country let alone into the exhibition. But what was the Met's loss was Harvey Nichols and my gain.

The windows were fantastic and really showed a nice collection of Mc Queens work from several seasons. The window mini exhibition met my expectations and really warmed my lust for both Mc Queen and Harvey Nic's (which is having abit of a moment). If you have a chance it is definatly worth a visit today, if not you can pray along with me that the Alexander Mc Queen Exhibition makes its way across the pond to London, the V+A perhaps....

Always Karl Cola

It is no secret that chief designer for all things fabulous at Chanel, Mr Karl Lagerfeld has designed three Limited Edition bottles for Diet Coke. Harvey Nichols scored exclusivity for the sale of these fashion bottles helping to secure their position as one of the most innovative fashion forward department stores in London at present. I have longed to get my coral manicured mitts on these bottles, I have kept an article about the bottles from PR Week on my desk for the past few months. So I was elated to go and actually pick the set up for myself.

Harvey Nichols had the place sorted with three giant Karl Lagerfeld for Diet Coke bottles, endless shelves filled with the bottles and even a handsome display cube with the bottles set amongst grass. I was in my element.

The thing that took me by surprise about the bottles is that they are actual made from aluminium instead of glass as I had expected. My Matthew Williamson Coca Cola bottles (Selfridges Circa 2003) are original glass bottles coated in a high gloss luxury film packaging so I had imagined the Karl bottles would be the same. In one way that did disappoint me as the bottles feel far lighter than I would have wanted.

But all in all I love these bottles produced by Mr House-Of-Chanel. They are playful, animated and most importantly stylish. It is great that you can choose your favourite from the distinct variants or can pick up the whole set like I did. Either way Harvey Nichols is defiantly worth a visit and any girl who dreams of Karl/Chanel should have one gracing their bedroom shelves.

Every girl loves a birthday

Firstly I should apologies for my absense from Watermelon Fox, it has been birthday related. This week has seen my 23rd birthday spring upon me, which my brain finds hard to process as in myself I still feel 19. I have had several birthday celebrations this year much like the Queen, with birthday drinks in Windsor and a birthday-day in London. Both I have really enjoyed. My trip to London was eventful and I have many a picture from the trip which I will be sharing over the coming two weeks. London installed all sorts of creative ideas for my blog which is encouraging, anything that inspires can only be a good thing. I forgot quite how magical London can be.

Below is my cake from the big day, it was H-U-G-E as you can see. Understandably I still have a slice or two left so the summer healthy eating plan will have to wait till June.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

If you have been following from the start you will be aware that I created my blog for self indulgent reasons. I wanted to keep an online inspiration medium and document my own style evolution to note qualities and changes to my style that I may not notice as I go about my daily life. One way to do this is by outfit posting which up until now I have shyed away from, but if I want to note my style I will need to have it recorded. So it is time to up my blogging and start noting my style.

So here we have it, my first outfit post. For me it was a great choice for Birthday Girl drinks. I was glad to find the occasion to wear my Matthew Willaimson mirrored body which is so youthful and glam. There is a very luxe Las Vegas feel about this. With all the mirrors energizing my top I did find myself the source of Disco Ball reflections all night, party perfect.

Outfit: Black mirrored body, Matthew Williamson ; Teal body con skirt, Forever 21; Aztec sandals, New Look; Black and Silver bangles, Aldo.

Money Can Buy You Style

This weekend I am heading out for drinks to celebrate the vast approach of my birthday, exciting I know! In a nod to my party drinks, this weeks Money Can Buy You Style is my birthday outfit of choice if I had a couple of grand lying dormantly in my account. I have my actual outfit sorted for the evening and hopefully I will get myself into gear and do a blog post of my outfit from the night. In the mean time I will dream of wearing this ensomble... oh to be rich and fabulous.

Grey Days = Bonus Burberry

What a wet Wednesday! I don't know about you but I never thought the Spring sunshine was going to end. Just as I was begining to embrace colour and start shaping up my Spring/Summer 11 wardrobe, the skys have fill with washed out stone coloured clouds. But every cloud has a silver lining, and todays lining is the chance to wear my leather jacket which I had retired for the season. Today would also be an amazing day for this Burberry bad boy! Is this not one of the best leather jackets? Leather, check, Endless Studs, check, worn by a fierce looking Miss Spears in her latest video, check. This is potentially the toughest yet sexiest jacket I have ever laid my eyes on and its gutting to know that my budget will never strech to this dream coat. This is one coat that would definatly leave me singing in the rain.

Money Can Buy You Style

It is common knowledge that I am abit timid when it comes to adding colour to my wardrobe. I live in a constant reel of classic tones which are pretty easy to work with. As much as I love colour and have many a colourful pieces in my wardrobe I do always go back to my trusty grey, black, beige and white items. So last week I set myself a mini challenge, to go my whole working week without wearing an inch of black and embrace the colour within my own wardrobe. That shouldn't be too difficult you would think right? I must admit it was a challenge and did require me to spend an extra few minutes in the morning putting together my colour blocking but I did love the results. I will definatly be making a lot more effort with colour this summer. I have created this weeks Money Can Buy You Style to reflect the challenge.

A Scent for All Seasons

I am a great believer in how emotive and thought provoking a sent can be. For the last five or so years I have been adopting separate scents for autumn/winter and then spring/summer. While some may argue that this is perhaps a little excessive to have two different scents depending on the season, I find it necessary and a good aid to help transform my attitude from winter thinking to full of Spring. Plus there are plenty of men and women out there guilty of well over five variants of perfumes in their bathroom mainly as a result of Christmas presents.

For me my firm favourite winter scent has been a firm fixture of mine for the past five winters, Dior Addict. If you asked anyone what I smelt of, or gave them a bottle of it to smell you would instantly smell me. I love it.

However for this summer I have turned my sights to Marc Jacobs. I have always liked the look of their clean, perfumes and this Spring I decided to give it a try. As far as I am aware my scent is simply called Marc Jacobs and I have to admit I am really enjoying wearing it, it is beautiful . It evokes a similar scent identity to that of Jo Malone and Diptyque, that luxurious smell that oozes richness. Wearing this fragrance you honestly feel like a young professional. It is quite an adult scent and not for those who dream of fruit and femininity in their spray. As you can tell by the fact that the bottle is almost half empty already I have been drowning the curve of my neck in this scent.

I highly recommend switching up your scent for the season, anything that helps you get in the spirit of summer can only be a bonus.

Forever and Ever

This weekend I have been naughty and self indulged...Online. Dangerous I know! I am not really one for internet shopping, I really perfer to shop in person to be able to see the detailing, check the quality of the fabric and most importantly to check an item flows and fits (I wont even buy something at Primark without trying it on first). I have had a few previous unsuccesful orders from Asos where the items have arrived only to be sent straight back because the fabric is so cheap and see through. This is not to say all my internet shopping has been a downhill experience, my last ASOS order consisting of a rich raspberry dress that has been fantastic.

Having been off the online retail bandwagon for perhaps +6 months I got back into it with ease and in one big spree. My store of choice, Forever 21. Forever 21, in my eyes at least is the U.S version of H+M, youthful, on trend and with H+M prices. I am yet to tred foot in a Forever 21 store as the brand has not long been launched in the UK and with only one UK store currently in Birmingham (that bit too far away). However I hear that there is plans to open a store in London within the year, which will definatly be getting a visit from myself and my Visa.

Forever 21 is too tempting, I spent a good hour going through all aspects of the website not wanting to miss a thing. There is so much to fall for. Personally I went for a couple of Aztec tee's, basic tops and a long cross necklace. None of which are shown on my note worthy collection below in an attempt to encourage me to do outfit posts with my new goodies when they do arrive

With free delivery on orders over £50 (which is very easy to spend) Forever 21 is online shopping gold. And I definatly recommend a visit. Now I just have to play the waiting game for my online wonders to arrive.

Money Can Buy You Style

This week at work I have been dressing very office chic. Though I always aim to dress more smart than casual at my job which requires a ‘business casual’ dress code, this week I have defiantly smarted up my act, it has been a week of sleek pencil skirts, pussy bow shirts and black heels. I always wear heels to work as they help get me into work mode in a way that I only dream flats would. This week I have enjoyed wearing business bitch attire for work and play and wanted to put together an outfit for Money Can Buy You Style to represent the ensembles I have been wearing. While the look isn't very ground breaking it is beautifully classic and has been fun to wear.

Here Comes The Beauty Pack -Chanel Film

So it may have taken me a little time to get round to mentioning it but I adore the Chanel Beauty Here Comes The Beauty Pack video. This playful animation uses different Chanel beauty products and tools to create a variety of characters . The video is so insanely creative and witty, the creators were clearly encouraged to embrace their imagination. Rocket jets made out of lipstick, a spider made out of powder compacts, all in the fantasy world of Chanel Beauty. My favourite by far is the Parisian Chic Chanel Lady at the end of the film clad in what looks like head to toe Chanel she poses before elegantly lighting up her branded cigarette. Her jacket is made from a pink blush while her tiered skirt and shoulder pads are blusher brushes. Is it possible to envy a computer generated figure made from blusher? In this case most defiantly, if you haven’t seen the one minute video its worth a YouTube moment.

Interior Inspiration

Like most girls raised in the noughties, in my early teens I predicted my career would focus around interior design. This dream did not last very long but I do still hold an interest in interior aesthetics and lighting, though not on a profesional level.
At the weekend I viewed a gorgeous show house in Hedgerly, although the £900,000 price tag is just a little out of my price range there were several elements of its decor which I loved and wanted to note. There were heavily textured rugs, orchid overload, a vast array of luxury cushions, amazing light fittings and my favourite...mirrored furniture.
Below are a few pictures of items and ideas which inspired me and which I hope to one day implement in my own home, just perhaps one that doesn't cost £900,000.

Back to Business

After a lesuirely eleven days off it is back to business today. Back to work and back to the blog. When I broke up for my Easter Break I knew it would mean well deserved time off from work but I didn't anticipate that it would also mean that I would have to take time off from Watermelon Fox. Two days into my break I was ready for a fresh blogging hit when to my dismay my computer was having such difficult technical problems that it would not even turn on, nightmare. So I had to come to terms with the fact that it would be a blog free Easter break pretty fast.

There was so much I would like to have covered on my blog over the Easter Break including the Royal Wedding but I have decided because it is a new (and rather exciting) month, to look to the future. The break definatly gave me a chance to think abit more about my blog (absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that)hopefully this will be reflected in my upcoming posts. So here is to the future and getting back to business with work and Watermelon Fox. In the mean time enjoy the picture of my amazing Easter Egg which I feel is a bit too fabulous to break into but is gorgeous to stare at non the less.
